We loved this new video over at KQED’s MindShift about 16-year-old Kam Gan, a 10th-grade student living in San Francisco, who immigrated from Guangzhou, China was she was 12.

Gan is now learning how to program Lego Robotics at the Community Youth Center in San Francisco’s Chinatown neighborhood, and has begun to plan an education and career in the STEM fields.
Gan says she always liked to fix radios and doesn’t agree that engineering is not an appropriate field for young women.
“I always think about why the men can go to work in engineering and the girls need to work in the office. I don’t think so,” she said.
